IF YOU LOVE BRIGHT DECOR THEN YOU’LL FIND SO MUCH INSPIRATION FROM THIS COLOURFUL WEDDING!
Katy and James got married at the grand Hargate Hall, Buxton. It was a brilliant, festival themed wedding, with so much colour everywhere and lots of cheery banter to keep guests entertained.
I arrived in the morning to take photos and because Katy and James were both getting ready at the venue, I was able to get photographs of them both. There was a calm, relaxed vibe with a frisson of nervousness and I could see how excited Katy and James both were.
The ceremony took place at the venue, in a lovely grand room with a beautiful staircase. The ceremony included the couple saying personal vows they’d written themselves. It was a moving occasion, full of nervous giggles and happy tears.
After the ceremony, guests mingled in the main room, which gave a chance to take candid photos, and I got some awesome photos of the guests before taking the couple out into the grounds for some relaxed couple portraits. The weather at this festival wedding was fresh and sunny, it was a beautiful day and the light was perfect for the photographs.
The reception was held at the same venue, in a light and airy marquee filled with rainbow streamers. The venue is perfect for weddings because you can have the place for the whole weekend, and it’s got such a relaxed vibe, the venue owners are really open to ideas and let couples plan their day the way they really want which is fantastic.
Katy and James had really prioritised food and drink and everyone enjoyed an awesome meal washed down with New Zealand and Sheffield craft beers as a nod to their home, but also to the fact they had lived in New Zealand prior to the wedding. They had fantastic speeches, where their friends and family stood up, sang songs, told stories, jokes and anecdotes which was hilariously funny, emotional and entertaining all at the same time.
After the meal was finished, the band started up to get the party started, and the dance-floor was packed all evening – these guys how to party! With no corkage and no curfew, this party ran into the early hours!
I loved this relaxed, festival style wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a wedding photographer, get in touch.
